Asrenamayeshgah news agency- Speaking in a press conference in Tehran on Monday, Mojtaba Rad said the Iranian gas industry has through the years been overshadowed by the oil industry.
This is while the Iranian gas industry could worth a lot the Iran’s economy, he said.
“Iran’s gas industry, having over half a century of experience and enjoying high status in terms of resources and production, needed an exhibition separated from oil,” he said, adding that specialized exhibitions are generally more effective.
The spokesman said the exhibition aims to showcase capabilities of Iran and other countries in the gas industry.
Moreover, the exhibition is aimed at introducing opportunities for cooperation to companies and facilitate foreign investment and technology transfer.
Rad said Iran is the only gas-rich nation in the Middle East and North Africa region who is capable of producing gas industry equipment.
According to statistics, Iranian firms produce more than 95% of the items and parts used in Iran’s gas industry, over 70% of refinery items and 50% of chemical items used in gas refineries.
Rad said the exhibition, which will be run by private sector firms, could become a model for other Iranian exhibitions in the energy sector.
Over two hundred firms are expected to attend the show, he said.
More than 40 foreign companies from various European and Asia countries, including Turkey, India, the UAE, and the nations of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), would also attend the international event, he said.
The IRGS 2018 will be held in Tehran on September 1-4 at Shahr-e Aftab International Exhibition Complex.
The exhibition will cover 12 specialized sectors including drilling and exploration, gas supply, storage, distribution and transmission, technology and training, detection and evaluation, health, safety and environment and etc. and over 80 subsectors for products and services.
